News: Faith in Oregon, Asatru

Recently, with Rev. Tom Suss leaving his job as interfaith chaplain on the McNeil Island Prison Center in Oregon because of his feelings over a new law that enables a prisoner to claim multiple religions, there's been a number of faith-related stories coming out of Oregon.

One of them is about an Asatru man. His story can be found in the video link below.

He drifted away from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, one of the world's newest religions. He discovered his spiritual home in Asatru, one of the oldest.

Personally, I'm full on the side of the Reverend. EVERYONE I've ever met who has claimed that they are mult religious has simply used those religions as tools for their own use. 'Couse, they state this as a "Good Thing", since the whole point of Life is simply Personal Self-Improvement. The "Tools" don't matter to them. After all, it's not like a "Hammer" has feelings, self-awareness,etc...right?
I agree, it's why I have a hard time giving credence to many New Agers who dabble so much between a bunch of different religions.

I can understand folks who haven't quite found their niche yet, checking out a lot of different things, but when it comes time to claim something, then claim it, don't be wishy-washy and claim a bunch of random shit.
The weirdly annoying thing about these folks and is so revealing about them is the Tone when they talk about conventional religions...they're Respectful. When they talk about Heathenry, Wicca, Vodoun, etc they speak Irreverently, Jokingly. To Them, one group is REal, the other Isn't and so is OK to treat like a cheap tool from a Dollar Store...
